Full pleated skirt

Our full pleated skirt is a playful and elegant statement piece that is versatile and stands the test of time. It is high-waisted with a voluminous shape, pleat details and in-seam pockets. The design can be lengthened or shortened to your specific measurements and preferences.

This project is for beginner to intermediate sewers. It includes: topstitching; pleats; pockets; a zip; and a lining.

The pattern is an instant PDF download that you print. We provide both A4 and A0 printing options for the pattern, along with an instructions file. The pattern is for sizes 6-24 (see ‘Size & fit’ section below) and detailed step-by-step instructions on how to print the pattern, lay out the pattern, cut the fabric and sew the project. Moreover, we include: a glossary; a detailed size guide; and information on how you can alter the project for your preference.

This pattern is not for commercial use. It is not to be resold, duplicated or shared and it is for your personal use only. Items made using this pattern are also only for your personal use and must not be sold.

With this purchase you will be able to download the files up to 5 times over 30 days, therefore please download the files within this time period.

You will need

  • This pattern suits most woven fabrics. For sustainable options, look for organic cotton, hemp, wool, linen, tencel or recycled fabrics. *
  • Zip 18cm or 7” long.
  • Iron-on interfacing.
  • Matching thread.
  • Sewing machine.
  • Iron.

*Note, this skirt pattern requires fabric at least 140cm (55”) wide for sizes 6-20 and fabric at least 150cm (60”) wide for sizes 20-24. Both are standard fabric widths but this must be chacked before purchasing the fabric.

Printing instructions

For A4 printing, make sure your printer is aligned before printing. If you open the pdf pattern in Adobe Acrobat Reader (which is free), then you can select the layer corresponding to your size along with the ‘for all sizes layer’, deselecting the other sizes. If not, all sizes are labelled anyway. Print the pattern with no scaling (this may be listed as ‘actual size’ or ‘100%’).

There is a 1cm test square on page 1 that you can measure with a ruler to check that you have printed it out correctly. After printing, lay out the pages referring to the codes in the pink circles (numbers refer to rows and letters to columns), butting the edges up together (do not overlap or cut the paper). Stick the pages together using tape. There may be a small unprinted margin at the edges of your pages; this is normal and we have made sure not to place information or intricate parts of the pattern here.

Size & fit

This pattern includes sizes 6-24 (please view our size chart for full details). Please let us know if you are waiting for further sizes of this pattern.

We always recommend making a mock-up of the trousers/shorts in inexpensive fabric to check fit before making it in your final fabric.

I brought this pattern as a fairly new sewer, the instructions were great and really easy to follow and I was able to make the skirt fairly quickly!

I used a brocade fabric to make a lovely evening wear skirt and I’ll be making the pattern again in a more summary fabric for wearing to work. It’s super flattering because of the waist band too!

Also possibly the best bit about this pattern is the lovely big pockets!
